My last post, I couldn't even get the name right. I called him Keith -- obviously I wasn't paying attention to the whirlwind around him. It has been corrected. :-)
But today I give credit to a heroine who deserves loads of credit. There are many like her who deserve our attention and admiration just as much, perhaps even more. But because they aren't gorgeous their names remain unknown. Yet there is something to be said for marketing and in that business, beauty marks its power. So I share this story. This heroine, Sgt. Jill Stevens, was in the Miss America contest -- she put her stunning self out there as someone of substance, beauty, strength, and kindness...yet she, when not in the pageant, risks her life and saves lives for service to our country as an Army Medic. She's got it right. She should have won. But in the true ways, she and many like her, win everyday.

I have a particular interest in this story: I use to write for another site and my articles revolved around offering the choice of dignity for young girls, while also giving credit to chivalry-- simply offering another option for a young girl's life besides Britney sleaze, Shakira's trampiness, and Fergi-licious who offers nothing except getting "used" then singing a hiccup-crying electronically-spliced, "Big Girls Don't Cry."
I prefer to offer young kids another option -- that they can reject the trampy fleeting thrills sometimes expected of us women, to make choices of intimacy that are profoundly wonderful, with beauty, strength and dignity intermingled.
In response to that message, the left-wing man-hating feminists, who seem to hang out in dark and dungy angry gangs, came out of the wood work to bash these concepts to no end, submitting such comments as "if chivalry isn't dead, I volunteer to strangle it (free of charge) with my bare hands." Another feminist preferred to label such horrible things as an actual gang rape of a twelve year old girl as consensual. Sadly, that is what the left-wing feminism has degraded itself to be these days. [After they'd comment on my writing, I'd dig through the cesspool of their websites and generally found them to be, as no surprise, Clinton supporters.]
Even good ol' Hollywood's Don Murphy (producer of Natural Born Killers, Transformers, Apt Pupil, Shoot 'em Up, From Hell, Bully, etc.) wrote to me in very direct terms that he'd prefer me dead by drowning. From this and more, I know first hand, offering dignity isn't always welcomed with open arms. In fact, they often want dignity and grace strangled. Literally. Needless to say, we have thorns and throngs of these cowards driving the media and entertainment agendas these days. To encourage dignity, beauty, grace these days, you have to have guts, it comes at a price and simply stated, grace requires bravery.
So I say, Thank You Jill. You rock. You set the standard, a higher one. You raise the bar. Thank Goodness, we have a gorgeous woman in the limelight with class and character...finally. You've won the hearts of many, including the children of Afghanistan, and in that, you've achieved the greatest victory. With Gratitude.
