For those of you so far away . . . some may worry we forget. We don't. Thanks for covering the waterfront, keeping us safe. We do so too, for you, in return. Some of us hoping you remember, to find us too.
Louis Armstrong back in 1933, after The Great Depression, before World War II, singing for you . . . with a tremendous trumpet closing that blasts cheers for you.
I cover the waterfront
I’m watching to see
‘Cause the one I love, soon come back to me
I cover the waterfront
In search of my love
And I’m covered by the starlit sky above
Here am I, patiently waiting
Hoping and longing O, how I yearn
Where are you, are you forgetting
Do you remember, will you return
I cover the waterfront
I’m watching to see
Will the one I love, soon come back to me
I cover the waterfront
I’m watching to see
Will the one I love, soon come back to me
I cover the waterfront
In search of my love
And I’m guided by the starlit sky above
Here am I, patiently waiting
Hoping and longing O, how I yearn
Where are you, are you forgetting
Will you remember, will you return
I cover the waterfront
I’m watching to see
Will the one I love, soon come back to me
Here am I, patiently waiting
Hoping and longing O, how I yearn
Where are you, are you forgetting
Do you remember, will you return
I cover the waterfront
Those were the days when music actually had something to say, and meant every word.... Sometimes I think I should have been born 50yrs prior to my actual birthday. Ummm, then again, maybe not!
